BT Redcare is an alarm monitoring system that will signal an alarm upon activation or when the telephone line is cut. Redcare also enjoys the additional benefit in that it can be connected to an existing Telephone line which reduces the cost of monitoring to the customer.
A low frequency signal is transmitted by the Redcare STU panel down a conventional telephone line which is monitored at the local exchange. If the line is cut this low frequency signal will not be received by the exchange equipment. Line cuts can thus be detected and the Alarm Receiving Centre alerted.
A second high frequency polling signal is sent back from the exchange equipment to the panel. On receipt of this message the panel will transmit back a response. This two way messaging ensures that the panel can not be substituted. Encryption and authentication ensures that they cannot be simulated by external control equipment. This dual path signalling is used to avoid problems with major network faults.
The Redcare system meets most leading Insurance Company requirements.
Redcare is also sometimes referred to incorrectly as Red Care.
