Supporting South West Blood Bikes: Helping a Life-Saving Charity Serve Devon
To assist their incredible work, we’ve provided dedicated parking spaces at our company premises. These reserved spaces help South West Blood Bikes riders respond faster to emergency callouts by giving them a secure and central base to operate from, ultimately allowing them to serve our community more efficiently.
South West Blood Bikes operates a free, out-of-hours service, run entirely by highly trained volunteers. Using specially equipped motorcycles and cars, their riders deliver life-saving supplies such as blood, plasma, platelets, pathology samples, donor breast milk, and more. They work through the night, in all weather conditions, to ensure that patients get the urgent medical support they need, exactly when they need it.

The charity runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, covering not just Devon, but also supporting nearby regions when needed. Since their founding, they’ve been called out more than 9,483 times and have safely transported over 54,000 individual items. Their tireless work has saved the NHS close to £500,000 in funds that can go back into patient care, equipment, and staffing.
Beyond their numbers, what makes South West Blood Bikes truly remarkable is their commitment to service. Their values, compassion, excellence, integrity, and teamwork reflect everything we stand for at Westcountry Fire Protection. Supporting them is a natural fit.
We’re proud to play a small role in helping this incredible charity keep Devon’s communities safer and healthier. If you’d like to support them too, whether by making a donation, volunteering, or even organising a fundraiser, you can find out more at: www.swbb.charity
